You can hire an out of town attorney.
Hey, it’s me again, Oklahoma Attorney Earl Lawson. The question many of you ask is – do I need to hire an attorney from the area in which I work?
In other words, if I work in Oklahoma City, do I need to, if I’m going to appeal my decision, do I need to hire an attorney for Oklahoma City? Not necessary. Since these are telephone hearings, the telephone hearings for your appeals, they’re very simple. A board experienced attorney.
I’ve handled a lot of clients. I’ve had them all the way up to Woodward and I handle my end of the telephone hearing right here. I tell my clients exactly what’s to be expected at the telephone hearing, try and calm them down. They don’t usually calm down, but I try and calm them down.
Anyway, I send them a list of the questions that I’m going to ask them during this telephone hearing, and I give them a call about an hour before the hearing. We go over those questions and I tell them exactly what the best way to answer them. I don’t ever want my clients to lie. My clients always tell the truth, at least as far as I know they always tell the truth. And that’s one thing I do stress.
I don’t want them to ever lie because this is a court hearing just like if you were standing in front of a judge at the courthouse. I’ve handled a lot of Oklahoma, Woodward, Reno, I’ve handled a lot of Kingfisher. Anyway. And we won lots of them statewide. So no matter what part of the state you live in, give us a call. We can represent you and I think we do a pretty good job. According to our clients we do. Anyway, give us a call and we will see if we can help you with your Oklahoma unemployment benefits.
